Come as you are!

From Father Iain, All Saints Chiang Mai

All are Welcome!

Dear Friends,

Last week we marked Remembrance Sunday remembering all those who are victims of war.  This week we will remember those who are victims of another sort of war – the fight against bigotry and the fight for the right to be yourself.

Every year hundreds of transwomen, and some transmen, are killed simply for being who they are.  Often those victims are also poor and people of colour and among the most marginalised in society.  Sometimes they die unknown, laid in an unmarked grave, but the Transgender Day of Remembrance works to make sure they are not forgotten.  As part of our service, we will welcome trans people, and others, from the MPlus organisation.

Our readings for The Transgender Day of Remembrance Sunday will be from Isaiah 56:1-5, Romans 8:31-39, and Matthew 22:30-40, and we will be singing the hymns Stand up stand up for Jesus, Lord we make this cry for freedom, Beauty for Brokenness, and Let Us Build a House!  Past services and sermons can be viewed via the All Saints audio-visual page!

All Saints’ Festival of Christmas Carols – Coming Soon!

On Saturday 7th December we will have our 2019 Festival of Christmas Carols!  This is only three weeks’ away!  This Christmas celebration is in support of the Youth Charity Foundation orphanage.  Tickets are free, but there will be a collection for the foundation.

Lannacapella will form our choir and lead the singing, and representatives of various foreign consulates and expat organisations will do readings.  The festival will be held in Nong Pratheep Church which is on Thungspong Road.  (Turn off the Superhighway almost opposite Bangkok Hospital)  (See our website for directions!)

Please take tickets on Sunday and invite your friends!

Gymkhana Lunch

Our weekly lunch at the Gymkhana Club will again be at midday on Thursday!  Please feel free to join us!

Father Iain’s Absence

I will be away in the UK from Monday 18th to Friday 29th November.  Rev. Mark Crawford will be leading and preaching on Sunday 24th.  Please contact Mark if you need anything in my absence.  Mark’s email is adjarnmark@gmail.com and his phone number is 085-932-4203.

Christmas Activities

Most people get to hear about us via the internet or by word of mouth, so please feel free to pass on this email to others.  All are welcome to join us as we share the presence of the risen Jesus in our lives!  We hope to see you soon and that you will enjoy worshipping with us,

God bless,

Iain
