From Father Iain, All Saints Chiang Mai

Christ is our King!
Dear Friends,
This week we will celebrate the Feast of Christ the King! We are not called to accept Jesus as our saviour – he is that already – but we are called to accept Jesus as Lord, the boss of our life!
Perhaps the use of the word “king” is foreign to us now, and ideas of constitutional monarchies further cloud the issue! But the basic idea is simple – Jesus is the pattern for our lives, he is the one we should follow, when there are decisions to make then we should be committed to going God’s way and not our own.
This is not always easy. Sometimes it is difficult to know what God is saying to us, but we are called to listen and follow as best we can and, even if we get it wrong, we know we are safe in God’s hands!
Our readings this Sunday will be Jeremiah 23:1-6, Colossians 1:11-20, and Luke 23:33-43, and we will be singing the hymns O Worship the King, King of Kings Majesty, Let us Break Bread Together, and Christ Be Our Light! Past services and sermons can be viewed via the All Saints audio-visual page!
Advent Sunday – Next week!
Our service for Advent Sunday on 1st December will be followed by a potluck and decorating the church. This is a great fun time together! Bring Christmassy food to share!
All Saints’ Festival of Christmas Carols –
Coming Soon!
On Saturday 7th December we will have our 2019 Festival of Christmas Carols! This is only two weeks’ away! This Christmas celebration is in support of the Youth Charity Foundation orphanage. Tickets are free, but there will be a collection for the foundation.
Lannacapella will form our choir and lead the singing, and representatives of various foreign consulates and expat organisations will do readings. The festival will be held in Nong Pratheep Church which is on Thungspong Road. (Turn off the Superhighway almost opposite Bangkok Hospital) (See our website for directions!)
Please take tickets on Sunday and invite your friends!

Christmas Activities
Christmas Lunch
Next Sunday, there will be a signup sheet for Christmas lunch. We will have roast turkey, and all the trimmings, followed by Christmas pudding or pumpkin pie! Please signup if you are planning to come! This is not a potluck so we need to get organised!
Most people get to hear about us via the internet or by word of mouth, so please feel free to pass on this email to others. All are welcome to join us as we share the presence of the risen Jesus in our lives! We hope to see you soon and that you will enjoy worshipping with us,
God bless,
Iain
