Why are people so angry?
Dear Friends,
Sometimes it seems easier to hate than to love. I heard that posts on Facebook that make people angry are ten times more likely to be shared – I think I am guilty of that!
Our New Testament reading for this Sunday is from 1 Corinthians 13, Paul’s great hymn to love, but then our Gospel reading sees Jesus rejected – and nearly lynched – in Nazareth! We still live in a divided and conflicted world – but the Gospel of Love is still the answer!
Our readings will be Ezekiel 43:27-44:4, 1 Corinthians 13:1-13, and Luke 4:21-30, and we will be singing the hymns All People that on Earth do Dwell, Come let us use the grace divine, I am the Bread of Life, and Love Divine, all Loves Excelling! Our worship will include the Methodist Covenant Prayer.
Valentine’s Service – Sunday 10th February
At All Saints, we try to mark significant events in the year’s calendar – not just the religious ones!
This year, Valentine’s Day falls on Thursday 14th February, on Sunday 10th we will focus our service on the theme of love. Included in this special service will be the opportunity for all couples to renew their vows to each other, and we will remember that whether we are single or coupled, we are all enfolded in God’s love.
This could be a good opportunity to include partners who don’t normally attend church!
Deacon Gene
Gene will be back with us this Sunday for a short visit! It will be wonderful to have him back!
Bill Moeller
Bill is now back home – please hold him in your prayers as he continues to recover from his hip operation. He would appreciate visitors!
Past services and sermons, including our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day worship, can be viewed via the All Saints audio-visual page! If you don’t know the way to All Saints, directions can be found on the Where and When page.
Most people get to hear about us via the internet or by word of mouth, so please feel free to pass on this email to others. All are welcome to join us as we share the presence of the risen Jesus in our lives! We hope to see you soon and that you will enjoy worshipping with us,
God bless,
Iain
