Last Week’s Sermon

Video of last week’s sermon by Pastor Mark, “What makes you happy?”, can be found here!

This Saturday, 6 May 2023, there will be a ‘Garden Party’ at the Consul’s Garden from 11am until 6pm to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

It’s a festival of great food, music & fun for the whole family … not just for British & Commonwealth expats, but for people from everywhere … especially Chiang Mai locals. There will be something for everyone.

The Coronation Procession starts at Thapae Gate, led by the British Ambassador H.E. Mr. Mark Gooding. The vehicles will proceed around the walls of Chiang Mai city, and then on to The Consul’s Garden on the river Ping. Participants include: Classic Cars of Lanna, Mini Club Chiang Mai, Triumph Rider’s Club, and Royal Enfield Rider’s Club.

THE MAIN EVENT (11am – 6pm)

FOOD: we have a tantalising range of quality food and drink on offer.

ACTIVITIES: There will be lots of fun activities for children … some based on traditional British games others involving skill-building workshops organized by local international schools. There will be fun cutouts of British icons for children to take photos. There will also be free guided kayak trips for kids and their parents on the river Ping.

ENTERTAINMENT: We have sourced great music and dance from all around the world: Scottish bagpipes, Australian didgeridoo, Celtic folk music, Bollywood dancers, Blues from Burma, and colourful cabaret and song acts from Suman and Gate Theatre.

EXHIBITION: There will be an exhibition depicting the close historical ties between the monarchies of the Thailand and the UK, and about the first British explorers to reach Chiang Mai.

RAFFLE DRAW AT 4PM: Winners of the major prizes must be at the draw to claim their prizes. Many local businesses – both big and small – have generously donated OVER 300,000 BAHT WORTH OF PRIZES.

Ticket price is 100 baht per person, but for children 12 years and under it’s free. To avoid disappointment, and to skip the queues by using the fast-track gate at the event, you can purchase tickets in advance in person at: Laughing Monkey in Hang Dong / Wild Hog Saloon / Fashion King / Ratilana Riverside Resort / 137 Pillars House / Lanna International School / Prem International School / The Consul’s Garden.

Each paid entry ticket will entitle you to one free raffle ticket. Extra raffle tickets can be purchased for 100 baht each.

All proceeds go the following charities: Foundation Of Child Understanding (FOCUS) and Mother Child Concern Foundation (MCC).  FOCUS works to prevent abuse of children and women, and to combat child sex trafficking in Northern Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. MCC in partnership with Thai Myanmar Friendship Group delivers humanitarian aid to displaced children fleeing from civil strife on Thailand’s northern borders, and within Myanmar.

Spring Retreat: 12th – 14th May

Our Spring Retreat will run from Friday 12th May – Sunday 14th May.  We are hiring a whole resort, RungNara Pool Villa, in SanSai, just outside Chiang Mai.

It is only 30 minutes drive from church so should be easy for everyone to get there!  There are only ten rooms, so please let Katie know if you are coming.  There is a sign-up sheet at church!

It will be a time of relaxation and fun!

Chili Night

Some of the group!

Chili Night will continue this Tuesday at the usual time of 6 p.m.  Come and join us at the vicarage as we share chili followed by ice cream!

Weekly Offering to All Saints

You can still donate in person or online.  Thank you for your support and love for All Saints and all we are trying to do together.  God has shown that he is mighty and we are in his hands!

God bless,

Father Iain
