From Father Iain, All Saints Chiang Mai
Choir and Potluck Lunch this Sunday!
Dear Friends,
This week’s Old Testament reading is probably our shortest ever. It is posted below in full:
Proverbs 25:6-7
Do not put yourself forward in the king’s presence
or stand in the place of the great;
for it is better to be told, ‘Come up here’,
than to be put lower in the presence of a noble.
This is an easily understood passage and Jesus expands on it in our Gospel reading when dinner guests are jostling for the best seats!
We all want to be respected and well-regarded but some of us who are white, wealthy, and western don’t even notice the respect that we already receive just for where we were born. How can we retain our dignity and yet be humble? Find out more this Sunday!
Our scripture readings this Sunday will be from Proverbs 25:6-7, Hebrews 13:1-8, 15-16, and Luke 14:1, 7-14, and we will be singing the great hymns At the Name of Jesus; King of Kings, Majesty; Father We Love You; and Christ, Be Our Light! We will also be singing a new setting of The Lord’s Prayer and the choir will be singing Above All!
Use this link to join us on Zoom this Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Chili Night
Some of the group!
As my mum has now recovered from Covid, Chili Night will return this Tuesday, 30th August! Come and join us at the vicarage as we share chili followed by ice cream! For directions see the details for this Sunday’s potluck.
Harvest Festival – Sunday 2nd October

We will be celebrating our annual Harvest Festival on Sunday 2nd October.
There will be no service at All Saints, but we will travel together to the Youth Charity Foundation’s House of Hope where we will worship together. Our Harvest Festival will be followed by lunch provided by YCF.
October Choir Intensive!

Cassi and Joe
We will be having our first ever choir intensive for the children of the Youth Charity Foundation from Friday 15th to Monday 18th October! A professional choir director, Joe Novelli, will be coming from England to lead the sessions, and Joe’s partner, Cassi Joski-Jethi, who is a documentary film maker, will be recording highlights of the sessions!
We will probably have a two hour session each morning and another each afternoon, with lunch in between, and lots of fun activities. This is a very exciting project and we will need people to help manage lunches and other arrangements at the vicarage! Let me know if you can help in any way.
Weekly Offering to All Saints
You can still donate in person or online. Thank you for your support and love for All Saints and all we are trying to do together. God has shown that he is mighty and we are in his hands!
God bless,
Father Iain
