Christ-Like?

From Father Iain, All Saints Chiang Mai

Who is like Christ?

Dear Friends,

We have reached November!  It will soon be Christmas – but November is a busy month too!

This week I will be looking at the story of Ruth and Boaz.  Boaz has been called a “type” of Christ for he redeems Ruth, but have we got the right one in the story?  Who is the Christ-like one?

The following week, November 14th, is Remembrance Sunday, when we remember those killed in two world wars and all the other victims of war.  The service will include the Last Post and two minutes’ silence at 11 a.m.

Then we have the Transgender Day of Remembrance weekend.

On the evening of Saturday 20th November we will have an informal event, held in conjunction with MPlus, at the vicarage. This will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will include presentations by trans women and others.  Then on Sunday 21st November we will have a special service beginning at the usual time of 10:30 a.m.

Finally, November ends of Sunday 28th with Advent Sunday.  We will decorate the church together and share in another potluck lunch!

Our bible  readings this week will be Ruth 3:1-14; 4:13, Hebrews 9:24-28, and Mark 12:38-44, and we will be singing the hymns Christ Whose Glory Fills The Skies, Before the Throne of God Above, I will offer up my life, and Crown Him With Many Crowns!

Chili Night continues!

A few of the group!

Everyone is again invited to the New Vicarage next Tuesday at 6 p.m. for Chili Night!

Every week, mum and I are hosting this open-house, offering chili con carne and rice followed by ice cream.  Anyone can come  – you don’t have to let us know, just turn up.  (Although advanced notice is useful so we can prepare enough chili!)

All are welcome – not just All Saints people.  Tell your friends, spread the word!

The address is:

The New Vicarage,
9/65 Ban Ing Doi,
Kan Klong Chonprathan Road,
Tambon Chang Phueak,
Chiang Mai

This is the link on Google Maps.

From Maya Mall.  Drive up Huay Keaw Road towards Chiang Mai University.   Turn right along the Canal Road.  Go through one small set of traffic lights.  After the road crosses over to the right side of the canal, Ban Ing Doi mooban is accessed over a little white bridge on the left.

Enter the mooban and immediately turn left.  The New Vicarage is straight ahead.
