Harvestime!

From Father Iain, All Saints Chiang Mai

Thanks be to God!

Dear Friends,

This Sunday, 26th September, we will celebrate our Harvest Festival with the children of the Youth Charity Foundation.  There will be no service at All Saints, but instead we will leave the church at 10 a.m. to travel out together to the YCF Compound in Doi Saket.  Let me know if you need a lift!!!

If you would like to make your own way there click here for directions.
The service will begin at 11 a.m. and be followed by a potluck lunch, and pizza and pad Thai will be provided.  Please bring salad or desert to share.
This was a great success last year and it will be great to repeat the occasion.

Our scripture readings for our Harvest Festival will be from     Deuteronomy 8:7-18, James 5:13-20, and Luke 10:1-9, and we will be singing the hymns Come Ye Thankful People Come, All Creatures of our God and King, For the Beauty of the Earth, and We Plow the Fields and Scatter

Those who can’t travel out to YCF can join us on Zoom.

Use this link to join this Sunday on Zoom at 11 a.m.
Meeting ID: 548 801 501

Last week’s sermon can be viewed here!

“Oh Lord, it’s hard to be humble!”

Chili Night!!! – Begins next week!!!!

Everyone is invited to the New Vicarage on Tuesday at 6 p.m. for Chili Night!

Every week, mum and I will be hosting this open-house offering chili con carne and rice followed by ice cream.  Anyone can come  – you don’t have to let us know, just turn up.  (Although advanced notice is useful so we can prepare enough chili!)

We plan this to be a weekly event following in the footsteps of Rob Collins and Esther Wakeman, who hosted a “Spaghetti” night each week for more than 25 years!

All are welcome – not just All Saints people.  Tell your friends, spread the word!

The address is:

The New Vicarage,
9/65 Ban Ing Doi,
Kan Klong Chonprathan Road,
Tambon Chang Phueak,
Chiang Mai

This is the link on Google Maps.

From Maya Mall.  Drive up Huay Keaw Road towards Chiang Mai University.   Turn right along the Canal Road.  Go through one small set of traffic lights.  After the road crosses over to the right side of the canal, Ban Ing Doi mooban is accessed over a little white bridge on the left.

Enter the mooban and immediately turn left.  The New Vicarage is straight ahead.

New Altar and Lectern

We have ordered a new altar and lectern to be made in Baan Twai.  These will be made of wood, unlike our temporary ones which have lasted us seven years!

They should arrive in about a month’s time.

Chiang Dao Retreat

A group on people from All Saints are planning to spend two nights at The Nest in Chiang Dao on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th October.  There will be no service in church on Sunday 10th October, but people not joining the retreat will be able to take part via Zoom.

There is a sign-up sheet at church or let me know if you are interested in going.

Prayer Meeting

We have a weekly online prayer meeting.  Join us at 9 a.m. on Zoom every Tuesday.

Use this link to join the prayer!

THURSDAY Lunch

Some of the lunch group

The lunch at the Gymkhana Club continues – but is moving to Thursday this week!  Please join us at midday on Thursday.  All are welcome – you don’t have to be a club member!

Weekly Offering to All Saints

You can still donate in person or online.  Thank you for your support and love for All Saints and all we are trying to do together.  God has shown that he is mighty and we are in his hands!

God bless,

Father Iain
