From Father Iain, All Saints Chiang Mai

What does it mean to have the Spirit?
Dear Friends,
In this week’s Gospel reading, Jesus calls his disciples Salt and Light. Meanwhile, Paul in our New Testament reading talks of being filled with the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. How do these two concepts link together? How can we be wise, Spirit-filled, and salt and light to our communities? This will be the message of our sermon this week at All Saints.
Our bible readings this Sunday will be Isaiah 58:6-9, 1 Corinthians 2:1-16, and Matthew 5:13-20, and we will be singing the hymns Awake My Soul and with the Sun, O Breath of Life, God is Love, and Salt of the Earth! Past services and sermons can be viewed via the All Saints audio-visual page! This is a great place to catch up if you’ve been away! Each sermon only lasts around 15 minutes.
Chiang Mai Pride 2020
This year’s Chiang Mai Pride march and events will be on Saturday 22nd February. People from All Saints are again invited to march behind our “Christians at Pride” banner. More details to follow. All are welcome to join!
Discussion Groups for the New Year
In previous years we have had very popular Lent Groups, but this year we would like to begin the groups earlier – and maybe continue longer!
We will begin by studying Desmond and Mpho Tutu’s book, The Book of Forgiving. Copies are available to purchase. We will meet on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Gymkhana Club (following lunch). Email if you need directions.
Copies of the book are available if you don’t already have one. All are welcome – I hope you can join us!
Gymkhana Lunch
Our weekly lunch at the Gymkhana Club will again be at midday on Thursday! Please feel free to join us!
Most people get to hear about us via the internet or by word of mouth, so please feel free to pass on this email to others. All are welcome to join us as we share the presence of the risen Jesus in our lives! We hope to see you soon and that you will enjoy worshipping with us,
God bless,
Iain
