Happy New Year!

From Rev Iain Baxter, All Saints Chiang Mai

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year, in July?  Well, yes, because at All Saints, Chiang Mai, and at many schools around the world, a new year is about to begin!

Of course, the Thai schools began their new year back in April, and many other schools and colleges begin their new years in September or October. But for us, a new year is beginning.

I am writing this email sitting in my parents’ kitchen in Sheffield, looking out on their sunny garden where my mum is sitting reading on her iPad, but on Thursday I will catch the train to Manchester Airport, and I arrive back in Thailand on Friday night.  I have ten smoke alarms in my baggage so we can begin our plan to equip dormitories in Thailand.  Friday night will be spent in Bangkok with Andy and his family, and then on Saturday Andy and I will fly back to Chiang Mai.  I look forward to leading you in worship on Sunday as we begin our new year together at All Saints.

New years are always a time for new beginnings. Whatever has gone before is done and we can look to the future, and as Christians we have the assurance that whatever happens we are in God’s hands and God is good!  If you have been away, welcome back!

This Sunday’s readings are Hosea 11:1-11, Colossians 3:1-11, and Luke 12:13-21, and we will be singing the hymns Awake My Soul, Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah, Mothering God, and Go forth and tell!  The readings can be found via this link!

If you don’t know the way to All Saints, directions can be found on the Where and When page.  Most people get to hear about us via the internet or by word of mouth, so please feel free to pass on this email to others.  All are welcome to join us as we share the presence of the risen Jesus in our lives!  We hope to see you soon and that you will enjoy worshiping with us,

God bless,

Iain
