We have a busy weekend ahead with services on Good Friday and Easter Sunday.  We will meet on Friday at 11 a.m. at our usual Sunday venue, 18 Pa Tan Road. There will be no Wednesday Night Group this week due to Holy Week and Songkran.  On Friday we will remember the death of Christ, in a service including a long dramatised reading from John’s Gospel.  On Sunday we will have a joyful resurrection Eucharist!  As William and Tarntip will be away on Easter Sunday, we are having a pot-luck before they leave after the Good Friday service.

The Good Friday readings are taken from Isaiah 52:13-53:12, Hebrews 4:14-16; 5:7-9, and John 18:1-19:42, and we will be singing the hymns O Sacred Head, Now WoundedWere You There When They Crucified My Lord?, and When I Survey the Wondrous Cross.  I will send details of the Easter Sunday service on Saturday.

Video of our Palm Sunday procession and the Bible readings and sermon can be found on the Audio-Visual and as always, directions can be found on the Where and When page.  Most people get to hear about us via the internet or by word of mouth, so please feel free to pass on this email to others.  All are welcome to join us as we share the presence of the risen Jesus in our lives!

We hope to see you soon and that you will enjoy worshiping with us,

Welcome to Lent!

Fullscreen capture 05032014 214822-001Dear Friends,
.

We had a very enjoyable service – if that is the right word – on Ash Wednesday, with two new people in attendance.  All went to plan and ashes were imposed on our foreheads.

We are now in the season of Lent as we begin the 40 days of fasting until Easter.

Iain writes, “Fasting can mean different things to different people.  To some it may mean giving up food or something else, but for all of us Lent should be a time of taking stock of our lives and our faith.

Overall, though, Lent is still a joyful time, for if we remember our own sinfulness and mortality, we also remember God’s infinite love and his forgiveness.”

This week’s readings are Genesis 2:15-17; 3:1-7, Romans 5:12-19, and Matthew 4:1-11, and we will be singing the hymns Forty Days and Forty NightsGuide Me, O Thou Great JehovahJesus, Remember Me, and For All the Saints.

God bless,

Ken

New Wednesday Group!

From Ken Chase for All Saints Chiang Mai

Dear Friends,

Our Wednesday Night Group will start tomorrow, Wednesday, 5th February.  We will be meeting at the home of Joel Akins near Suthep Road.  Suthep Road is behind Chiang Mai University, and you should ask a tuk tuk or Songtaew driver for “lahng mo soi 7”.  There’s a sign on the corner for Punna 3, and it is on the left as you walk down soi 7. It is easy to find. Just go to the end of Nimmenhaimen Road, turn left on Suthep Road, cross the Canal Road, and Soi 7 is about 500m further up the hill.

The meeting will begin at 7pm, but we will meet on the corner at 6pm, and go to a local eating place first.  The group should last about an hour and we will discuss possible activities at our first meeting.  We may study a book together, share, pray, read the bible, or a mixture of these.  It should be a great way of better getting to know and support one another.

This Sunday, 9th February, we will have a pot-luck meal following the service.  Please think about what you could bring to share!  This week’s scripture readings will be Isaiah 58:1-8,  1.Corinthians 2:1-10, and Matthew 5:13-20, and we will be singing the hymns Praise my Soul the King of HeavenCalled as Partners in Christ’s ServiceLet us Break Bread Together, and Christ is made the Sure Foundation.

Directions can be found on the Where and When page of the All Saints website.

God bless,

Ken
