United We Stand

Dear Friends,

In this week’s Gospel Jesus is accused of casting out demons by the power of Beelzebub.  He responds with the famous lines:

How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.

The devil is not divided against the devil and God is not divided against God.  It seems that only humans are stupid enough to fight amongst themselves, nation against nation, family against family, brother against brother, sister against sister!

Let us pray that we all at All Saints remain united in love for one another and our common purpose!

The readings for this Sunday will be from 1 Samuel 8:4-20, 11:14-15, 2 Corinthians 4:13-5:1, and Mark 3:20-35, and we will be singing the hymns Now Thank We All Our God; Spirit of God, Descend Upon My Heart; You laid aside Your Majesty; and When we walk with the Lord!
